
Click here for our FUN North Kingstown DARE Web site!The North Kingstown Police D.A.R.E. program is responsible for providing the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) instruction for the entire 5th grade population (approximately 500 students) in the 6 Elementary schools in the North Kingstown School district as well as the 4th grade students with DARE visit lessons.
The program consists of 17 weeks of education on how to resist drugs and violence. Some of the topics discussed are; Becoming a contributing member of the community, Self-esteem, Mind altering drugs, Consequences, What effects drugs have on your body, The 8 ways to say no, Stress, The influence of media, Role models, Having positive alternative activities, and How to resist group violence. This information is shared with the students to assist them for the present as well as for the future.
